What this service is

Home Hardening Score is a free, self-guided assessment. You answer questions about your own property, optionally add photos, and receive a score, a range, and suggested next steps. Read the disclaimer alongside these terms, it sets out plainly what the score is and is not, including that it is not an inspection, a certification, or a guarantee of any insurance outcome.

Eligibility and accuracy

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service. Your score is only as accurate as the information you provide, and you are responsible for answering honestly about your own property. If you use the assessment for a property you do not own or represent, you are responsible for having the right to do so.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use this service to submit information about a property other than your own without authorization, to interfere with the site's normal operation, to attempt to access another person's assessment without their access link, or to use automated means to scrape or bulk-collect content from the site.

Your access link

We give each assessment a private link. Anyone who has that link can view the assessment, so keep it as you would any other document containing your address and answers about your property. We are not responsible for access resulting from a link you shared or that was otherwise exposed.

Insurance is never part of this service

This service does not sell insurance, quote insurance, or bind coverage, and using it does not create any relationship with an insurance carrier or agency. If you choose to request an insurance review, that request is handled separately by Five Bays Insurance Agency, a licensed California insurance agency related to us by common ownership, under its own terms.

Intellectual property

The site, its design, and the scoring methodology belong to us or our licensors. Your report is yours to keep, download, print, and share as you wish. You may not copy, republish, or build a competing product from the site's underlying content or methodology without our written permission.

Third-party links

The site links to other tools and resources, including the Defensible Space Score assessment and provider directories. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.

No warranty

The service is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your score will remain unchanged as the underlying methodology is corrected or improved over time.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service, including any decision made or action taken based on your score.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
