Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 26, 2026. This describes what Home Hardening Score collects when you use the free assessment, why, and how to reach us about it.

Who this is

Home Hardening Score is operated by Loss Prevention Solutions, a division of AACI Group Inc. Five Bays Insurance Agency, a licensed California insurance agency, is a related company under common ownership. We say where that relationship matters below.

What we collect

When you use the assessment, we collect the property address you enter, your answers to the assessment questions, and, if you choose to add them, photos of your property. If you request your results by email, we collect the name and email address you give us. If a photo is unclear, we may collect a coarse description of what a photo showed, produced by automated image analysis, never by a person reviewing it manually.

We also look up public and licensed data sources for the address you enter, including CAL FIRE fire hazard severity zone and post-fire structure data, and US Census Bureau geocoding, to prefill answers you can confirm or correct. We do not use Google Street View imagery, Google Solar data, or any similar imagery-derived inference to build your assessment.

Photos

Photos are stored in a private location we control and are never made public. We remove the location and device information a photo file carries (EXIF data), keeping only the date the photo was taken, because how recently a maintenance item was addressed can matter to your score and your address is already stored separately. Photos are analyzed by an automated image model to check whether they support an answer you gave. That analysis never changes your score value on its own, it can only narrow how wide a range we show around it, or ask you to confirm something the photo and your answer appear to disagree on.

How we use it

We use what you give us to calculate your score, show you your results, and generate a report you can keep or share. If you ask for your results by email, we send a copy of your report to the address you gave us and nothing else, unless you separately ask for more.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the site: a database and file storage provider, an email delivery provider to send your report if you request one, and an image analysis provider to read photos you upload. Each is bound to use what we send them only to provide that service to us, not for their own purposes.

If you choose to request an insurance review, we pass the information needed for that review to Five Bays Insurance Agency. That only happens if you take that action; nothing is shared with Five Bays Insurance Agency from an assessment you do not submit for review. A link to the Defensible Space Score tool passes only an address and a single-use token, never your name, email, or answers, unless you separately choose to start an assessment there.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.

Derived information

Your score, band, and the individual measure results are information we create from your answers and photos. Under California law, this derived information is personal information about you in the same way your answers are, and the rights below apply to it too.

Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. We do not sell personal information and do not use sensitive personal information for any purpose beyond providing the assessment itself, so there is nothing to opt out of on either front. To make a request, use the contact details below. We will ask enough information to confirm the request is yours before acting on it.

How long we keep it

We keep your assessment for as long as your access link remains useful to you, so that returning to it later shows the same result, and for as long as we need it to comply with our own legal and recordkeeping obligations. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time using the contact details below.

Children

This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Security

We restrict access to stored assessments and photos to the systems that need them to run the service, and access to any individual assessment requires the private link generated for it.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the effective date above.
